There are things that everyone should do at least once in their livesI don't have a top 10 in my head right now, but I'd add school teaching to that listIf you've never done it, I'll give you the SparkNotes version:-Kids are awesome-Some kids can be the worst-It's usually not them, it's their upbringing-The parents are the true clients of the schoolI learned ALOT from working hereI wouldn't be able to tell you all about it here without doing it justiceI will highlight 2 key skills that I learned:-Storytelling-NegotiationOne day, we were reading short storiesThe kids(4th graders) came across an idiom they weren't familiar with: Burn-bridgesI tried and tried, but nothingSo I made up a story about how a kid borrowed money from his friend and refused to pay it backI then asked do they think his friend allow him to borrow again in the futureNo, because that bridge is burnedThe lights came onStories workSometimes we forget that it's only common sense if it’s common to youI learned negotiation from interacting with parentsSome were controlling and wanted to dictate what homework I gaveSo one day, I sent the concern parent a couple of poems to choose for homeworkLittle did they know that their choices didn't matter because I was going to assign them all eventuallyI was merely giving them an illusion of choiceWorked like a charmMy time at CIS had to end because my mother got really sick, and I had to go care for her
