I have achieved an advanced diploma in biomedical sciences in 2018 and I'm in my 3rd year of Bachelor of Biomedical sciences degree.From the course work I have acquired, communication by using oral, written, and interpersonal communication to inform, motivate and effect change, scientific literature writing skills, research skills, project designing, laboratory testing skills, digital literacy, critical thinking by evaluating information using critical and analytical thinking and judgment, problem-solving by creating solutions to authentic problems, Self-management working and learning independently and taking responsibilities for personal actions, Teamwork, and global citizenship.Also, I had an opportunity to learn about software such as MEGA, Clustal W, and R commander.Before I started studying in Australia I have volunteered at the central medical clinic Gampaha for 5 years and also in 2017 in Wisdom trainer academy in event organizing in Sri Lanka.I have participated in STAR 2020 mini-research project in Deakin University, where I had a chance to participate as a subject as well as a researcher where I conducted a mini-research project and I had the opportunity to understand fundamental concepts to design the project and to interpret the findings in terms of human health, communicate within the teams and also communicate own findings in the e-portfolio, search databases and find relevant journal articles for the e-portfolio, design the experiment and also the interpretation of the finding and test the experimental design phase of the project and also determine the correct analysis for the data sets.Currently, I'm doing my placement with Deakin University Waurn Ponds as an Assistant Researcher. From the placement I've been developing my written communication skills while I'm working on a literature review on pediatric brain cancer, laboratory protocols reviewed and prepared, basic cell culture techniques in a biosafety hood and molecular assays, etc.
