There are two dominant professional streams in my career path. One is focused on Canadian security, and the other professional avenue is focused on Social Sciences (Anthropology, Social Justice, Political Science, and Public and International Affairs). Over the last year, I have been the acting Policy Manager for Highways and Public Works with the Government of Yukon. My focus has been on building my capacity as a manager and leader. In 2021-22, I was a Cabinet Analyst working with the Government of Yukon. I believe my work here had a real impact, putting into practice much of what I’ve learned over the previous years. I’ve worked on several policy issues including climate change, LGBTQ2S+, UFA Chapter 22 commitments, program improvement, modernizing operational policy and modernizing specific pieces of legislation. I also had the privilege to be a team lead on a major legislative project for three years. As an Evaluation Analyst in 2013/14, my focus was on Aboriginal governance, Crown-Aboriginal relations, and performance measurement. I have been a member on four teams that were responsible for conducting evaluations on various programs, including: the Evaluation of Self-Government and Comprehensive Land Claim Agreements (2013); the Summative Evaluation of the First Nations Infrastructure Fund; and the Evaluation of Investments in Economic Opportunities. Since Grade School, I have been passionate about preventing and addressing human rights atrocities. At that time, I believed that the only way I could be an effective catalyst for change was if I entered into politics. Thus, with this intent, in 2000, I joined the military Reserves, and a year later, after graduating from high school, I launched my scholastic career towards a B.A. in Social Science, followed by a Diploma in Social Justice, and then a Master's degree in Public and International Affairs.These two streams — Canadian security, and social justice — combined, make up a career path that is proving to be surprisingly complimentary and which has provided me with a unique spectrum of experience with endless applicability in the real-world. I have keen interest in problem-solving and I possess a mind that always tries to see both sides of a story or an issue. I am naturally drawn towards mediation roles. I would like to build on this skill set professionally in the next few years.I hope to eventually become an effective activist and advocate.
