Future Energy Leader (FEL- 100) program is hosted by the World Energy Council to supports and promotes energy leaders of the future. Every year they recruit around 35 new exceptional young professionals and replace the same from more than 100 countries. I was able to participate program for three consecutive years from 2017, to 2019 which is the maximum number of year that any recruitee can be on board. The FEL-100 Program turned out to be a very valuable experience for me. I was actively involved in Environmental issues, Digitalization, Energy Trilemma, and Issues Monitoring working groups and contributed to the publications of those groups. It paved a good opportunity to work with international energy professionals to solve common energy issues faced by the world as a whole. I have represented Sri Lanka twice in the World Energy Council Executive Assembly.

I was selected for an internship program at Energy Division, Southeast Asia Department, Asian Development Bank headquarters to undertake a desk research and to review network development plans, network losses, distribution grid codes, electricity tariff etc. of electricity distribution utilities of Southeast Asian countries. I prepared a report and a consolidated summery on distribution system planning function, tariffs, losses, distribution codes in each country including appropriateness of system studies, planning criteria, institutional capacity etc. and identified/prioritized energy efficiency improvement programs and clean energy projects for implementation within the region. I presented my findings to a wide global forum of ADB representatives.

I joined Electro Metal Pressings (Pvt) Ltd (EMP), one of the leading Low Voltage (LV) Distribution panel manufacturers in Sri Lanka engaged in designing, manufacturing, and exporting LV panel boards. EMP also manufactures state-of-the-art Cable Management Solutions, Steel Enclosures, and Rack Systems for equipment and computer servers. I worked in the manufacturing and assembly division and later transferred to the design and estimation division.  Key Responsibilities Designed and supervised the construction of type-tested LV distribution panel boards up to 6,000A for local and foreign clients as per the client’s requirements. Perform site surveys and inspections upon requests of clients to provide consultation on their LV distribution network requirements.  Designed Generator Synchronization panels to local higher riser buildings. Designed type-tested LV Auxiliary panels for 24MW Jaffna Diesel Power Plant. Designed Reactive power compensation panels for the medium and large-scale industries after necessary energy audits. Designed and supervised construction of various other panel requirements like Pump Control Panels, UPS changeover panels, lighting distribution panels, Bedhead panels, Variable Speed Driver panels, Auto Transfer switching panels, cable management system etc.  Lead and supervise the drought persons, team leaders, and technicians in the assembly and production section.
