- Working as their lead backend engineer, I led efforts to bring stability to this startup by implementing best practices into an inherited legacy python code base- Taking ownership as the sole operations engineer, I migrated them from Heroku to AWS to decrease costs and improve their ability to scale. Implemented AWS services such as S3 to manage their user-uploaded media - this helped decrease costs dramatically. - Improved their tech stack by keeping them at LTS releases of Python and Django versions which avoided the risk of being exploited with common vulnerabilities. Implemented an automated release deployment process to help them deliver solutions to their customers faster than ever before.- Implemented a full video processing pipeline with FFMPEG to take user uploaded exercise videos, process them, split them into still frames, and produce short resized animated web-safe GIFs and videos. - This allowed trainers to publish and brand themselves on the platform for their customers.Collaborated with front-end and mobile engineers to deliver a stable and fast API. Responsibilities include scoping tasks, pair programming, and code review. - One of the lead engineers on a real-time call center analytics software platform that handled over one million events per day from a call center switch. - Developed key expertise working on real-time projects that needed to work at a sustained scale. Heavy use of asynchronous programming, background workers (Celery), queues (RabbitMQ), and in-memory databases such as Redis.- As our scale grew, I lead efforts to split our monolithic service into key areas such as the events ingestion, queue processor, public API, and front-end. Developed a Golang application to ingest events from the hardware switch to lighten the load on our main application.- Continued to lead the efforts of our OSS-BSS platform. Developing a Terminology-driven automatic translation of web sites for the Intellego team. The final deliverable along with this project other than the command line script is a web interface to be able to connect all the work I have done.
