At Cultured Books Literacy Foundation, we engage the entire family unit, including the child, their caregivers, and the broader structure of their immediate community. It’s a holistic approach that works to shift literacy from something that happens just at school to something woven into everyday life. In the historically underserved community of Deuces Corridor, we create opportunities for young readers to explore books through monthly literacy-based workshops that prioritize four main objectives:Engagement: Everyone can participate, no matter their reading level. Representation: Our community sees themselves in our stories and in our leaders. Discussion: We talk about what we read. Conversations deepen comprehension, bridge content to lived experience, and give readers an opportunity to practice their oratory skills.and, Reflection: We find creative ways to process and showcase what we read to each other and our community. Our social enterprise taps these workshops to generate customers for our co-branded bookshop while the shop generates revenue to support the Foundation. Educate the Tampa Bay community of the importance of breastfeeding through cultural relative presentations and group discussions.Skills required for this position is being an active listener, being culturally aware, possessing an welcoming demeanor. Planning activities around current events related to breastfeeding as well as creating thought provoking presentations.

Enhance the literacy skills of elementary aged children. By providing reading support along with positive reinforcement. In turn, helping the child develop a love for reading.Skills required of me for this position involved being an active listener, tolerant and respectful to each student's differences; being aware of their capabilities attributed from life outside of school. Also being encouraging and supportive. Clerical: Reading Pals is also funded through grants. For that reason it is my duty to accurately document each student being seen, when, and for how long.

Mentor youth who are at- risk of dropping out of school by empowering them to discover their potential. This done through an ongoing, one-to-one relationship. As their mentor it is my responsibility to serve as a positive role model and friend. A relationship is built through planning and participating in school related and social-emotional grounded activities.Skills required of me for this position involved being an active listener, tolerant and respectful to each student's differences; being aware of their capabilities attributed from life outside of school. Also being encouraging and supportive. Outside of mentoring, there is paperwork involved to hold account of what is being done. Graduation Pathways is funded through grants, so in order to continue to receive such grants, accountability had to be shown. On my part this was done by: *Accurately tracking hours both at my Mentor site along with various volunteer sites.* Documenting activities done with the students and turning them in monthly.* Having an account of who is being mentored, when and for how long.* Interpersonal skills played a key role in how to effectively communicate between teachers and parents on my role in supporting the student.

*Provide breastfeeding encouragement, support and basic information to WIC participants and the community.*Conducts Prenatal Breastfeeding classes for WIC participants.*Leads breastfeeding support groups.*Develops and presents educational displays for local community health fairs.*Counsels WIC pregnant and breastfeeding mothers by telephone and in clinic visits.*Follows a case load of 30 or more prenatal and postpartum mothers and makes routine periodic contacts.*Evaluates and identifies breastfeeding issues that may require referral and continuous follow-up.*Refers WIC breastfeeding mothers to Lactation consultant when problems presented are beyond my scope of practice.*Evaluates client breast pump needs, issues breast pumps according to policy and provides information on best practices for breast milk collection and storage.*Accurately documents pump issuance and/or retrieval and files necessary documents.*Keeps accurate records of all contacts made with WIC participants.*Files WIC Client records in Medical Record.
