Edyn are a rapidly growing venture capital backed group, providing aparthotels across the UK and Western Europe, they are moving from a legacy Sage system which is restricting growth to NetSuite. I was brought in after the project had stalled and was tasked with working with the business to finalise the BRD and work with the implementation partners, Eureka, to implement the system. This has involved working with the business SME’s to ensure the solution is fully tested, configured correctly and meets their needs. I have been sharing my experience of best practice to inform how the business processes can be utilised with the NetSuite environment

Following a difficult NetSuite implementation in 2018 I was charged with providing in house NetSuite expertise to develop processes and controls within NetSuite, tasks undertaken include working with the business on a comprehensive roles and responsibilities review and implementation, reporting development, providing 1st and 2nd line support to users across the world and working with NetSuite Advanced Customer Support (ACS) to drive changes to the way NetSuite is used.

In 2015 the UK government announced a radical shake-up of the local authority pension schemes, introducing pooling to drive down investment costs and enable funds to develop the capacity and capability to become world leaders in infrastructure investment and help drive growth in the UK economy. Brunel was created in 2017 to manage ten Local Authority Pension schemes. As their previous finance system, Sage, was being withdrawn from the market they decided to move to NetSuite. Working with the implementation partners, ENCO, The P2P, O2C, R2R and FAM modules, as well as an API managing the BACs file transmission to Bottomline PT-X, have been implemented across all areas of the business introducing new controls and paper free processing or Purchase Orders and Expense Claims. I have supported the Brunel staff on data migration, workflow design and produced training material as well as a suite of reports and reminders. Following go-live support has been given on a one to one basis as well as via drop-in sessions and business wide communication to the 50 users.

The Motor Insurers’ Bureau is a not for profit company providing data services to the UK insurance industry, primarily around motor insurance but also covering other similar areas. As part of a large-scale transformation programme, they have chosen NetSuite as their ERP together with Expensify expenses software. Taking a lead and working closely with the business and NetSuite implementation partners RSM, using a series of workshops a design document was created covering P2P, O2C, FAM and R2R functionality and including advanced workflows around three way matching and PO/Invoice approvals as well as chart of accounts and segment design. I have lead the UAT process, undertaken screen customisation and performed data mapping and migration for go live on 1st January 2020. Following go-live ongoing support to the user base of 80 P2P users and 10 Finance users as well as working on the reporting solutions using saved searches, bespoke reporting and NetSuite Analytics

Her Majesties Government of Gibraltar is undergoing a transformational programme of modernisation including a new ERP system to replace their legacy systems. Design lead for Infor Cloudsuite Financials and XM within the ERP implementation across the Government of Gibraltar. Liaising with Infor and Channel partners as well as Government personnel to ensure the governments particular needs are understood and incorporated in the design documentation and subsequent build and UAT tests. Challenging both customer and suppliers to ensure best practice is followed and added value from modern ERP system realised. Working within the Finance Function of this aerospace manufacturing organisation covering an extended period of absence I was tasked with improving the robustness and reliability of the engineering function accounts and reporting. Following a number of changes within the business the current spreadsheet schedules forming the basis for journal completion and reporting were outdated and not able to provide the added value reporting required. I implemented a move to a central data repository covering the three main data feeds from SAP and EZLabor, a labour tracking system, to allow consistent entries and reporting to take place. With this in place I was able to vastly improve the month end close process allowing more time to check the results before submission to group. This provided the basis for a stable and robust suite of site and business partner level reports to be built using accurate data.

Working within the Service Logistics Global IT Finance Team, on a maternity cover basis, I am responsible for period end P&L reporting for a division with a cost base of c€17m and project accounting for up to 23 live IT projects with a combined spend of more than €4m. Regular contact with non-finance orientated project managers in the South East Asia to manage project commitments and spend against approved values. As part of this I created a standardised, semi-automated tracker using Excel to enable the speedy completion of monthly project reports and allow across project comparisons to take place. Regular forecasting is an important part of the finance function and took place regularly throughout the year requiring remodelling of volumes and cost/revenue streams in conjunction with function heads across the business.

Especially supporting workshop managers in developing a business area mentality to foster ownership and responsibility. Liaison with Group staff on development projects for internal and external systems.

Managed a major change to the CODA accounting structure following the purchase of Christian Salvesen by Norbert Dentressangle, including the ability to report both weekly and monthly numbers. Also was UK point of contact for SAP implementation into Norbert Dentressangle Maintenance with particular input on the AP and AR processes including automated invoice matched routines. Supported ND Maintenance through initial implementation of SAP before joining them full time.

Working within the IT function I provided management accounts and financial analysis to the department heads and group. This also included project accounting and reporting using a number of integrated and ad-hoc methods including Cognos 7 and 8, CODA, MS Access.
