    I answer telephones and help with walk in customers at The Coroner’s Office. I look over and accept death certificates, for registration, for the County of Riverside, through EDRS (California Electronic Death Registration System). I make sure all information matches the information we were given when the person was called into our office as being deceased. I fax death certificate worksheets, to mortuaries, showing them information on the death of a decedent, so that they can start the death certificate and then refer it over to us to look over.I send Cause of Death worksheets to law enforcement, APS, CPS, probation, Housing Authority, etc. for them to be able to close out their reports on the person’s death.I process biotox paperwork (lab work). I write type of case and doctor’s name (whoever did examination on decedent) on each page. I speak extensively, via telephone, with mortuaries, giving them information on decedents so they can add it to the death certificate.I keep an updated list of Mortuaries and their contact information. I also speak extensively to all decedents’ family members regarding their loved ones deaths. I help with decedents property releases to their Next of Kin. I process death report requests (writing receipts, entering requests into computer, copying and mailing death reports) to be sent to requestors. I also file away reports we have already processed.
