Thayne Forbes MA (Oxf) FCA BFP DipM FCIM Chartered Marketer MAE MEWII am a qualified chartered accountant and marketer, carrying out valuations for some of the world’s largest businesses as well as smaller owner managed enterprises. I also work on a number of complementary areas such as business and share valuation, generation of sales, brand contribution, marketing return on investment and profit analysis. My work is usually event driven (like a licensing deal) and helps in successfully dealing with such events.I graduated in Mathematics from the University of Oxford and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Binder Hamlyn in 1986. By 1988 I concentrated on special advisory and investigation projects: share valuations; intellectual property (IP) valuations; intangible asset valuations; business valuations; forensic accounting; and litigation support. In 1997 I transferred to Arthur Andersen where I continued providing valuation and litigation support services. I then worked for a year at Brand Finance plc, a specialist brand valuation consultancy, before co-founding Intangible Business in 2001. My work usually centres around valuing intangible assets and IP, such as brands, trade marks, copyrights, patents and customer relationships. This work is for business management, licensing, franchising, accounting, tax, dispute resolution and financing purposes. I have had the privilege of working in territories across the world with some of the world’s largest organisations, brands and their advisers. Many of the projects are confidential but have involved for example: Herbert Smith Freehills; MyIPO; Baker & McKenzie; L'Oréal; and Woolmark.
