I’m a medical doctor from Brazil, currently working as a general practitioner while conducting research in my spare time. I am determined to pursue a Psychiatry residency in the United States and build an academic career as a physician-scientist, focusing on PTSD. My main interests include traumatic stress, women’s and refugee mental health, and sleep disturbances and physiology. During medical school, I gained research experience as a research assistant for posttraumatic stress disorder at the university's Institute of Psychiatry. I also served as a teacher's assistant in Psychiatry, tutoring students and contributing to the course's improvement. I was also Director of Communications of the Psychiatry Special Interest Group, increasing mental health awareness among students. During the Family Medicine rotation, I developed a project about obstetric violence, which I presented at a local conference, receiving an honorable mention. During my final semester, I completed a Psychiatry clerkship at Hamburg University in Germany, where I gained valuable experience in patient care, psychiatric ward practice, and collaborating in an interdisciplinary team environment. Additionally, I visited the university’s affiliated center for traumatized refugees once a week, further deepening my commitment to providing care for this population.
