As President of Ascend Appalachia, I lead our non-profit organization in its mission to empower underprivileged young scholars throughout West Virginia. My role involves:- Developing and implementing strategies to expand our reach across West Virginia public schools- Coordinating with school administrators to organize seminars on college admissions, financial aid, and scholarships- Creating engaging content for our educational programs tailored to students, teachers, and guidance counselors- Building partnerships with local businesses, colleges, and community organizations to enhance our offerings- Managing a dedicated team of educators and volunteers who share our passion for unlocking student potential- Securing funding through grants, donations, and fundraising initiatives to sustain and grow our programs- Analyzing program outcomes and adapting our approach to maximize impact on students' educational journeys- Serving as the public face of Ascend Appalachia, advocating for educational equity in our communityI'm driven by the belief that every student deserves access to higher education, regardless of their background. By breaking down informational barriers, we're working to create a brighter future for West Virginia's youth and for our entire community.

As a founding member of this firm, alongside many other competent and enthusiastic instructors, I guide students as they learn to write, conduct qualitative research, and develop cohesive pieces of both creative and non-fiction writing. This is done through developing comprehensive, personalized curriculums for each student, recommending certain kinds of classes to aid in the student's development, and sitting down with each student to go over how their writing and study habits can be improved. Moreover, as a mentor, I work to ensure that students are holistically prepared for the high school, boarding school, and college environments that they are diligently working to gain admission to. Similarly, I guide them in finding (or creating for themselves) extracurricular opportunities through student and volunteer organizations within their local communities. In doing so, I hope to provide them with the fundamental skills they require to succeed academically, professionally, and personally on their newfound campuses.Finally, as team head, I spend most of my non-teaching and marking hours developing systems through which we can create cohesive team curriculums, platforms for keeping track of students' progress, and statistics on admissions trends, criteria, and case studies. I instituted the usage of various productivity software (Slack, Notion, Toggl.IO) to better organize both internal and clientele information. Furthermore, after deciding that our company could further thrive through increased intra-company guidance, I am creating training materials and hosting meetings for new and current instructors to expand their knowledge of pedagogy and admissions criteria as well as company policies. Lastly, I also focus on outreach to discover new talent to invite to join our firm and new volunteer and educational opportunities for our clients.

As a content creator, I have taken part in video production for companies like Awesome Entertainment and Shinhan Bank, as well as in short films. I have used these shoots as an opportunity to improve my Korean public speaking skills and to bring awareness to political and economic challenges facing both South Korea and the United States through short anecdotal explanations. In the attached videos, I address two topics I am very passionate about: public healthcare and public education.

As a freelance writer for KBS NEWSLINE, I assisted in the creation of English-based content, making use of my two most familiar languages and learning how to engage and interact with both interviewees and public audiences. In the past year, I have been able to conduct speeches in front of large audiences filled with global decision-makers on important policies like energy and public health, assisted in conducting interviews with world-renowned guests, and honed my craft of writing succinctly and purposefully.
