• In addition to previous duties as Senior Developer, assumed architectural control over all independent customer facing, SAAS, and revenue generating projects as part of the Digital Solutions product area under the Customer Experience Portfolio. Led the technical design as well as the teams responsible for several subsidiaries and major products, including Cargo Signal, Koho, Tradeflow, and Supply Chain Solutions - Living Model. • Primary technical participant in all near and long term product roadmap planning sessions with business leadership, identifying market opportunities, performing initial feature conception, and prioritizing features relative to business value and technical complexity. • Designed new, modern architectures for several older systems, planned the migration path, identified and assigned the relevant work across teams, created the technical and non-functional requirements for all development work, and worked with the development teams throughout implementation. • Consulted with many teams across the organization on migrating existing systems to the cloud, designing new systems for the cloud, managing data governance, as well as advocating and educating both technical and non-technical stakeholders on the risks and benefits of the various deployment models.• Key contributor to several enterprise working groups focused on achieving significant transformative changes across the organization, from establishing clear architectural principles and broad non-functional requirements for all software and system teams to advocating for increased adoption of cloud technologies and DevSecOps practices.

• Assumed ownership of Python-based application in Google App Engine for real-time monitoring of shipments to improve visibility, quality, and security of the supply chain and service providers. Enhanced this application to allow secure access to external customers, with a secure multi-tenancy model and external APIs, which led to the founding of Cargo Signal, LLC. as a wholly owned subsidiary of Expeditors International of Washington, Inc.. • Migrated the Python code base to containerized Spring microservices following CQRS and event-driven design principles and implemented stream-based approach for processing, enriching, storing, and analyzing time-series IoT sensor data to support intelligent alerting and higher throughput. Designed cloud-agnostic architecture to move into any Kubernetes environment. Migrated code repository to Gitlab and implemented CI/CD pipeline with support for Maven artifacts, Docker container registry, automatic environment provisioning, and canary deployment.• Given the role of technical lead, acting as the primary point of contact for vendors, consulting partners, and technical committees and review boards of potential customers. Worked with intake team to refine backlog story requirements, identify enablement work, and providing sizing and complexity estimates.• Led vendor integration trials to evaluate possible data vendors based on ease of integration, company fit, accuracy of data, and timeliness of data. Additionally, performed security audits of third-party IoT device vendors to identify potential API or infrastructure vulnerabilities before integrating with the Cargo Signal system.

• Founding member and technical lead of the Enterprise Monitoring team. Assisted in interviewing and hiring of additional team members. Created a monitoring Service Catalog. Established maintenance procedures and criteria of the monitoring tools and environment in accordance with established best practices. • Assessed existing network infrastructure monitoring and management tools and led Proof of Concept evaluations of the Cisco Prime, Fluke, and CA Network Service Management solutions. • Planned the implementation and adoption of the CA Application Performance Management suite for over 90 unique Java applications at more than 200 data centers. Created internal training for the use and interpretation of APM data in all stages of application development life-cycle, including a training program for Developers to create custom instrumentation for their respective business logic. • Extended the CA APM software in a variety of ways: to support custom web service frameworks and provide cross-JVM correlation and transaction tracing; to provide CPU utilization statistics by thread; and to provide accurate active session counts. • Implemented CA Customer Experience Manager (CEM) for monitoring real end-user transaction performance. Helped define business services and key business transactions and generated performance baselines for use in Service Level Agreements. Created a training program for product managers to be able to maintain these transaction definitions and SLAs. • Became leading contributor to public CA Wily/APM Global User Community.• Regularly assisted the Consulting & Diagnostics team in debugging problem JVMs by analyzing heap dumps and gathered metrics from APM and other sources.

• While still performing role as Developer, was nominated to the Production Engineering team, a small cross-discipline team reporting to the Vice President of Information Services that is accountable for ensuring the well-being of our production environment in support of Expeditors’ business needs. • Participated in regular review of upcoming projects to determine potential risks and to ensure that development efforts were in alignment with departmental goals. • Created process for monthly review of synthetic end-user performance metrics to be supported by newly hired statistician. • Piloted a Service Level Management program, fed by real end-user transaction performance metrics, the full adoption of which became a IS Departmental goal for 2013. • Worked with the Expeditors Corporate Legal Department to identify all existing contractual Service Level Agreements and created individual Service Level Objectives for various internal systems and processes.

• Founding member and lead of the IS – Support Special Projects team, a support-centric development team focused on process improvement through rapid and targeted development for the IS Support teams. In addition to role as developer, assisted team building through employee and intern application reviews and interviews, as well as new hire training. • Participated in the Monitoring Functional Focus Group and the Monitoring Implementation Team to select, purchase, implement, and develop additional enterprise-wide monitoring software, including CA APM and SL Enterprise RTView. Developed interim data gathering tools in VBScript, C++ and Java for existing monitoring software. Designed monitoring views in SL Enterprise RTView and Big Brother. • Led the installation and deployment of the Style Intelligence business intelligence reporting tool from InetSoft at over 200 branch locations. Developed enhancements of this tool through custom Java code to extend the functionality. Created complex data models of non-relational legacy databases; produced versatile reports for global use to streamline branch operations. Built adoption through the creation of a decentralized support network and by direct training at remote branch locations. • Developed a Java application for consuming a JMS queue of data from the branch to the corporate office that fed a custom designed reporting database containing a 120 day snapshot of branch activity. This reporting database met 80% of the reporting needs of the branch within the Style Intelligence tool and has become a mission critical application for improving the efficiency of branch daily operations. • Produced a variety of VB.NET, C#, and Lotus Notes database applications to facilitate Support Operations, including an application to handle delivery failure notifications, which was awarded the internal IS Support Level III Certification for helping reduce total email volume by 40%.

• Proposed and developed a production Access database, fed by custom WMI and Korn shell scripts, for tracking system and application information of all corporate servers to facilitate future Sarbanes-Oxley audits, expedite a data-center relocation, and streamline existing disaster recovery procedures.• Administered a proprietary monitoring application written in Perl to be used in conjunction with the Big Brother monitoring tool. • Participated in the review and standardization of existing support documentation for proprietary applications.• Provided Level I support for the Local and Wide Area Networks, Sun and IBM server hardware, daily backups, disaster recovery, and email at 193 branches worldwide; fielded support calls and requests via phone, email, and helpdesk ticketing.• Administered over 200 daily backup tapes and monitored 341 servers on a multi-platform Unix, Windows, and HP 3000 LAN at corporate headquarters, running 196 proprietary applications used by customers and branches.
