About Patrick Bradford
As far back as I can remember I have always been passionate about Electro - Mechanical devices... One of the most formative moments was at the Portland International Raceway- Budweiser GI Joe's 200 Champcar race. It was my first time venturing into the arena of motorsports, and I had a pit pass. With my "golden ticket" I felt alive for the first time, like I had just won the sensory lottery. The exhaust pulses resonating my chest and entire being. The raw percussion of the exhaust... The smell of methanol fuel burning, the calmly orchestrated chaos of mechanics tearing cars in half in a coordinated ballet... I was hooked. The number of engineering and technical decisions made for years leading up to each event, with the resultant differences in performance measured in thousandths of a second - Captivating...I joined the Marines as a Jet Engine Mechanic... (Mom wouldn't let me enlist for Infantry)... The visceral feeling of crouching next to an F/A-18 as you give the all clear signal to run up one of the Eighteen Thousand pound-force jet engines, that you just installed and feeling the rumble and crackle of the afterburner so loud and intense you can feel it in your chest... Priceless... This fueled my passion for electro-mechanical devices... But left me wanting to turn up the wick, as there wasn't a lot of room for hot rodding the jet engines. The next phase brought me back to my youth... I was well in my way to my dream job... Race Car Mechanic. With a lot of enthusiasm, and countless hours I worked my way up to Chief Mechanic of a Grand Am racing series Ford Mustang team, where I built a new race team finished the year 11th with a rookie driver. The more I learn, the more I find that there are still many questions and problems to be solved. Thus my calling for Mechanical Engineering, the solving of problems, using physics and mathematics feeds my hunger for knowledge and challenges. Current day I employed by Rena Technologies as a Field Service Engineer, while concurrently pursuing my BS in Cyber Security. My vision of tomorrow's engineer, will be made of 2 parts Engineer, and one part Programmer/ Data Scientist. The core reason for programming would be to write scripting to automate tasks and Data Scientist to decipher and visualize the large volumes of information that can result from the engineering development cycle.I also contract part time as a Cybersecurity / Network Security Analyst with BB Technology Solutions.Favorite quote:“The more I know, the more I realize I know nothing.”― Socrates
