Hi there, I'm Ross! Thanks for checking out my profile!My journey into the world of software engineering started with an HTC Vive and a fascination with virtual reality. Experiencing the immersive world of VR sparked my interest in coding, leading me to pursue a career in software development.I kicked off my career at Teer Social, diving into the world of data analytics with Python and Apache Spark. It was an exciting time where I got to experiment and learn a lot about enhancing application performance.After gaining some solid experience, I attended Monroe Community College and earned an associate's degree in Computer Science. My time there really helped me build a strong technical foundation and prepared me for the challenges ahead.While at MCC, I joined Alza, where I worked on designing a modular architecture to support a new product-based approach for a career coaching service. Collaborating with coaches and UX designers, I developed key features with Python and Django and tackled the complexities of migrating from legacy systems.As I continue my professional journey, I aim to apply my skills to real-world challenges, learn and grow continuously, and make a positive impact in software engineering.Here are some of my professional accomplishments:-At Teer Social, I boosted user engagement by 25% through developing data analytics features and reduced page load times by 50% by implementing Redis for caching and optimizing database indexing.-At Alza, I improved system flexibility with a modular architecture, collaborated on key features, and ensured data integrity during system migration.Outside of work, I have a passion for outdoor activities and the mountains. In the winter, you can find me snowboarding, and in the warmer weather I also love fishing, hiking, and camping.
