Currently responsible for application and information security (aka "cyber-security") in Smart Shield - a Kainos product. In my time here, I have gained an appreciation for the (secure) software development lifecycle as well as all the different moving parts that go into creating software. My main interests are security as well as software engineering, as I spend some free time writing software, but I also help write and maintain internal tools within my project too to help us maintain and monitor security.Previously, I was studying Computing Systems at Ulster University (graduating with a 1st with honours), while working in Smart Test/Audit. During my time here, I got to work with automation as well as full stack web development and gained understanding of working in agile. 2 years into my time here, I moved into my current role, mentioned above.Before that, I studied Computer Science at both GCSE standard and A-Level. To go all the way back, I can remember I've always had an interest in computers. When I was very young, even before I could properly read or write, I can remember using my Granddad's Windows 98 machine and the family Windows XP machine, exploring how they work and understanding how all the system components work together. I would say that my interest in computer technology and programming took off during my 3rd Year of High School with a Website Building Contest, in which I was the technical lead for my team. Under my leadership, we won first place. Later, in 2018, I won 3rd Place at the Kainos CodeCamp in Belfast. In the future, I’m hoping to get back into community events and continue my networking across the local and wider security and software engineering community.
