As a Directed Study Research student at the UBC Memory & Imagination Lab, I run the Virtual Reality study to create a specimen database for affective stimuli research. Currently, creating a high-quality 3-D specimen takes over 24 hours! I made an efficient pipeline that captures ~700 images per specimen on a DSLR, renders it on Meshroom, and then cleans up on Blender. I will soon be training a team of research assistants to operate this pipeline on multiple cameras simultaneously to achieve the April 2024 goal of 100 specimens, allowing us to determine the specimen's affective stimulus score. The score paired with the 3D object will be published on a public database, where psychology researchers can pull from their affective stimuli VR research. This will save researchers time from learning the complex programs of meshroom and Blender but, more importantly, standardize the VR specimen production pipeline. Show less

I work in the UBC Psychology Memory and Imagination Lab as a Research Assistant to run experiments, analyze data through excel, proofread research papers, and assist graduate students on their research projects. In this lab, I am learning how Virtual Reality works and creating and rendering VR scenes using Unity.
