We tag media and data like humans, but we do it without them. Responsible for building the technical team, delivering value to our customers by providing automated insights into their media and data libraries, and advancing the state of the art in image recognition and natural language processing.

Founding member of GTRI's cloud consulting practice. I've helped grow GTRI’s cloud consulting services from scratch to a profitable business unit. We build, migrate, manage, maintain and secure a variety of applications for a variety of customers in highly secure and regulated environments. We specialize in mission-critical geospatial (GIS) applications in the cloud.

I work with the executive team and product owners to align the development team's activities with business vision and product strategy. I implemented a system to capture operational metrics in our order fulfillment pipeline, resulting in a 2-4x increase in throughput. I am deploying a Docker-based container platform on AWS as part of a larger effort to move 
 internal datacenter operations to the cloud. I led the effort to modernize the company's 10 year old Java-based Web front- end for Bloomberg's Media licensing site. I improved security throughout the business and consolidated several video players into a single coherent video delivery platform.

I ran a consulting firm building custom applications for businesses of all shapes and sizes. Some highlights: I developed a platform for competitive team-building and fitness challenges for rumblesum.com. I rescued an app to teach children about healthy eating choices at zisboombah.com I helped launch a biotech startup to revolutionize clinical trials at flourofinder.com. I developed analysis and trading software for multiple private equity firms, mission-critical control 
software for the Missile Defense Agency, and much more.

I designed and led the implementation of the world's largest library of licensable video footage. Leveraging experience developing metadata standards, I defined the data model for video assets and their mapping to a database schema. I created a highly parallel search and indexing infrastructure, contributing code to Apache’s Hadoop project. I integrated off- the-shelf applications into a unified transcoding system that provides on-demand clipping, transcoding and watermarking for customer orders from an easy to use Web interface and back-end API.

I worked with Creo’s executives to determine product direction and strategy. I defined the architecture and led the implementation of Six Degrees, a ground-breaking email-based project management and workflow application. We created an innovative software development process and complementary tools based on Extreme Programming that Creo adopted widely throughout their organization, contributing to the company's bottom line. We shipped three major Six Degrees releases on time and won a Best of Show award at MacWorld.
