Betterment is the largest independent financial "robo-advisor" with over $10B assets under management. I primarily worked as a full stack engineer on the 401(k) product, Betterment for Business (B4B).Led first project to integrate ADP’s payroll system with B4B's 401(k) contribution system, working closely with product, the internal security team, and ADP’s integration team. Also led engineering on a project to increase the efficiency of the 401(k) loan creation process from hours long manual tasks involving multiple teams into a single approval internal tool.Managed and provided technical mentorship for B4B's summer engineering intern.Assisted in reshaping the B4B product team’s process, particularly around story writing and acceptance criteria and contributed updates to Betterment's technical phone interview process.

Kitchensurfing was a subscription service startup that sent personal chefs to customer homes for a weekly home-cooked dinner. I worked in a 10-person agile product team as a full-stack engineer to re-launch the business as a subscription service.Developed customer facing features, internal tools, and mobile API endpoints in a Ruby on Rails application with over 97.63% code coverage.Lead engineer on a flexible pricing feature based on customer demand, pair-programmed on a meal bundle feature that increased customer retention by 30% over six week period, and coordinated migration of user data from legacy Mongo databases to PostgreSQL to reduce technical debt.

General Assembly (GA) is a global education company that empowers people to pursue the work they love through classes, workshops, courses, and online lessons on technology, design, and business.Led engineering on GA Profiles (ga.co/profiles), working closely with the product manager, designer, and another engineer in an agile four person product team. GA Profiles helped scale manual outcome processes by connecting alumni with employers online. Iterated on the Ruby on Rails + React application for over a year, growing it to over 1800+ alumni profiles, 1500+ employer profiles, and 150+ monthly active job posts. 60% of conversations started on GA Profiles resulted in second round interviews.Before GA Profiles, worked as a full-stack engineer on a conversion focused agile product team that delivered features such as a new instructor lead funnel and helped create the internal Omniauth application used in GA’s service orientated architecture.Also taught the "Programming for Non-Programmers" online video series and other introduction to programming workshops after work hours.

The Back-End Web Development (BEWD) course is a part-time evening course that teaches students the fundamentals of programming and web applications using Ruby and Ruby on Rails.Collaborated with the main instructor on the course's curriculum, organized weekly after-class study hours, and provided feedback and code review on midterm and final projects. Also led a lesson on unobtrusive JavaScript in Rails and using AJAX to submit forms.
