In my role as duty manager, I am responsible for a team of staff on opens and closes, including weekends and nightfill.In addition to typical retail duties, including cash handling, and customer experience, my role as duty manager has surpassed these tasks, and I am now responsible for a range of other responsibilities. These include: conflict resolution, managing cash levels in the safe, net sales reporting, customer call-backs, inventory management, staff management, receiving truck orders, liaising with online customers, complex problem solving, anti-theft initiatives, liaising with the local police. This job role was my first in a management position and I have enjoyed the opportunity to expand my leadership and problem-solving skills.

As a barista at Coffee by GW, I gained a deeper appreciation not only for specialty coffee, but for how a small business operates. Working at GW was an opportunity to experience the beginning stages of a business, and the work that goes on behind the scenes to build a local rapport and reputation.

I built my skills in my barista role, helped out in the kitchen, as a dish-hand, and as a waitress.
