Yes, a highly-skilled, professional graphic designer with the knowledge and love for frontend/backend web programming does exist! That person is me.I went to school for graphic design with a concentration in typography but somewhere along the way I thought, "design would be much more interesting if you could fully interact with it". So, I snagged up as many programming classes as I could, much to the chagrin of my fellow artists, and plowed my way through design and programming.Fresh out of school with a BA in Graphic Design / Typography, I got a job as an Oracle DBA. I know, I know... it makes absolutely NO sense. But my love for relational databases and PHP just made me a great fit. While here (at AVX Tantalum), I honed my DB skills and really stretched my job description by building SO many intranet sites. Many of the employees were using reports printed daily on dot-matrix printers. I took it upon myself to build out a series of intranet sites to revolutionize how the company received and read its information on a daily basis.After 4 years of bouncing back and forth from Oracle, Microsoft SQL and MySQL, .NET, PHP, JS, and on and on, I knew I needed to fulfill the artistic side of my brain. So, I scooped up a job as a software developer.Plixer hired me as a software developer in hopes that I would focus on building a new UI for their product as well as bounce around with my programming knowledge. While there I learned so much about javascript, jquery, JSON, and Perl. There were some real geniuses there and I was grateful to gain more and more programming knowledge from them.
