Life is a journey in which we have a limited resource…..time. We have no idea the exact number of days we have but we do know it comes to an end….eventually. After we leave this earth, what is left behind is the value we created with our limited resource time. From day one my life has been centered around fixing problems. I decided to pursue engineering for this specific reason. Deep down, however, I was doing it so that people would like me. Inside, I was dealing with self-esteem problems. If I fix problems for people, they will like me. I was a people pleaser.I was in a bad place in my life after my divorce and it was at that point I made a decision to take ownership of my life and start working towards creating and generating the life I wanted for myself in a process of self-leadership. Went to therapy, read self-help books, and watched YouTube videos….anything I could get my hands on to figure out what I needed to do to start loving myself.I kept asking myself how is it that I can build a structure or a way to build a plan to get me where I want to go in my life. I have wants, needs, and desires for my life. I settled on a business plan for a life plan model as businesses are built to address the wants, needs, and desires of the world.I have successfully helped other leaders find and grow their life strategies through the use of business tools and concepts as I did for myself.I spent 22 years with the Boeing Company, where I always felt more like a life coach than a boss. I began my journey as an intrapreneur at Boeing when I was asked to develop a Strategic Airspace Design Consulting business from scratch that would serve the global government market while helping our airline customers with their flight efficiency. I started a personal blog to help the world with their lives while I was at Boeing and I called the blog, Generate Your Value. Senior Manager, Airspace ServicesJeppesen, A Boeing Company Mar 2003 - Jan 2009Atlanta, Georgia, United StatesWith the acquisition of Airspace Safety Analysis Corporation and the departure of its previous owners from the business, I was placed as leader of the business unit and tasked with building a consulting service that would help and support global government aviation organizations to optimize flight and ground operations allowing more aircraft sales to take place in the marketplace.I was responsible for all aspects of the business that enabled its financial growth as well as enabling our airline customers to maximize the utilization of their newly acquired GPS-based navigation and autopilot systems in their fleets.Some of our team’s accomplishments:> A successful two-year engagement with the Chinese Air Navigation Provider to assist them in preparation for their 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games. During this time, the Chinese government added a third runway, a new International Terminal, and a second Air Traffic Control Tower. This project enabled the Beijing Airport to become the second busiest airport in the world operationally two years after the Olympics were completed.> A successful one-year engagement with the Russian Air Navigation Provider to assist them in preparation for their 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia. The project involved severe terrain issues which required all air traffic to arrive and depart west of the airport, increasing the project's complexity.> After several failed attempts to redesign the Denver Airspace using GPS, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) asked us to help facilitate a project involving themselves and our airline customers utilizing our core competencies in airspace design and navigational chart development. Our facilitation enabled both sides, which are typically adversarial, to work together and understand the work each side must do during flight operations. With the success of the project, the FAA used it as a model to redesign the airspace of other major cities.
