Starting life with the aspirations of becoming a successful musician (aka rock star) and with my higher education in computing not being as exciting as I had hoped, I dropped out of college, and like many others I effectively fell into my sales career. While working in my first job working as a sales person in a busy musical instrument retailer in Swansea, South Wales, I met Steve Dawes (my very own Obi Wan Kenobi), a successful, London based Rank Xerox salesman, and quickly concluded that I too could do the same.A year later, having met my soul-mate, now wife of 35+ years, Wendy, we moved to North London after I had secured a role as a 'Trainee Sales Executive' for U-Bix UK; a leading Japanese manufacturer of photocopiers. Fortunate enough to fall on my feet, I was blessed with great products, a great sales territory and a great manager in Paul Sicklin, and over the next three years I eventually became their London Regional Sales Manager.Having studied computing in school, and then on to further and higher education, it was only a matter of time before I made the move to IT, first with ServiceTec, and then with Computacenter (see 'experience' below). Driven by a passion for knowledge sharing, in 1996, I founded my sales training and consulting practice - and have spent the years since expanding my knowledge and experience, working with clients worldwide. The client list is extensive (Microsoft, AWS, Vodafone, Virgin Media, Toshiba and more) and over time, my core competencies have become my core offerings: Whiteboarding (as in creating whiteboard presentations), Presentation and Sales Training, Consulting, Coaching, and more recently Social Selling.I have also written two successful business books on related subjects: The Visual Communications Book and The Smart Selling Book. Both are available in print and on-line and in multiple language editions (check them out for availability in your region via Amazon).More recently, after nearly 40 years in the B2B sales space, I have also added the role of host and founder of The Channel Zone Podcast to my work - and so I have come full circle in finding myself in front of a microphone once again, aiming to engage, grow and entertain an audience.
