Owner-operator

As the store's manager, I was responsible for every aspect of the business. Upon arrival, the store was losing 25% of its business in relation to its revenue from fiscal year 2009. During my time at the location, revenue has grown more than $350,000 over its highest prior revenue marker. The average sale for the 2011 fiscal year was $123, compared to $96 when I took over. This was the second highest average sale in our 36-store district group, which ranges geographically from Dallas/Fort Worth to Oklahoma, Kansas, and Northern Florida. My location had also more than doubled in its services (store credit card sales and layaway sales), making it the number one layaway store and number two Buckle Card store in our district group. Loss prevention decreased from nearly $17,000 to under $5,000, making the largest decrease in our district. Additionally, our outbound inventory transfers increased from 48% to 98%. All of this was accomplished while decreasing payroll and doing so within one of the lowest income areas within our district, during a time of city-wide construction stagnation, and overall economic downturn.

As the Director of Operations, I assisted the CEO in the analysis of operations to evaluate performance of the company in meeting objectives and to determine areas of potential cost reduction, program improvement, and policy change. I aided in the identification, development, and evaluation of a marketing strategy to restructure the image of the company, based on established objectives, market characteristics and budget factors. I conducted research to obtain factual and theoretical information, and authored select chapters for graduate-level supply chain management textbook. I also co-authored supply chain management cases for an undergraduate supply chain management textbook.

I functioned as a business analyst to work with system users to gather and document system requirements and test systems to ensure requirements were met. Additionally, I assisted Project Managers in tasks such as project planning, scheduling, communication, requirements analysis, testing and status reporting. I also participated in weekly Enterprise Architecture Review Committee meetings, and personally handled documentation of system compliance with enterprise standards and/or deviations from standards. I developed and refined governance and capacity planning for key operational components. Finally, I assisted stakeholders in requirements gathering and development of governance procedures/metric reporting.
