I am fascinated by how people get things done through interaction. I am a conversation analyst and qualitative health researcher and have worked in communication, collaboration, and safety and quality research, teaching, and policy for over 15 years. I lead an innovative program of research with an aim to improve communication within social institutions, particularly relating to healthcare. I have published and presented on many of these topics to professional and academic audiences. I am on the editorial boards for Qualitative Health Communication, BJGPOpen, and Health Literacy and Communication Open. My goal is to integrate research and teaching to provide up-to-date content through evidence-based educational approaches. I have experience in teaching across the breadth of higher and continuing education, particularly with healthcare students and providers. My accomplishments and reflective approach to learning and teaching were recognised through being awarded Senior Fellow of Advance HE (SFHEA) in 2019 and an Australian Award for University Teaching Citation for 2021. I am the Deputy National Representative of the International Association for Communication in Healthcare (EACH), having previously served as National representative and Deputy National Representative across previous terms as well as Social Media Officer and member of the Policy and Practice subcommittee. clinical care through improved communication between clinicians and consumers.
