Hello! My name is Derek Chen and I am a University Teaching Fellow and Computer Science Student at George Washington University. I am a current 3rd-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and minoring in mathematics. With a track record of high-level projects and work experience, I am a determined worker with expert communication and teamwork skills.🚀 Dedicated Worker:Currently, I am a University Teaching Fellow at George Washington University. I teach 40-50 students discrete mathematics and algorithmic analysis, and I lead recitation and laboratory sections weekly. I also host office hours for 7-10 students weekly. I am also a software engineering tutor where I teach students age 4-10 Python and object-oriented programming. Additionally, I write assignments and unique data science projects for my students. This past summer, I worked as a software engineer intern at Flexwind. During my internship, I developed the YURT (Your Usability Rating Tool), a web application that measures the usability and accessibility of a website. This project was a React web application with a Spring Boot and MongoDB backend. I also expanded my agile development skills, including story pointing, productization, and CI/CD expertise. 📚 Top of the Class:As a full-time student and presidential scholar at George Washington University, I have a 4.0 GPA. This past year, I earned a spot on the George Washington University’s Dean's List for both the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters. I have created many different web applications, such as a pitching scouting report for the Washington Nationals using Javascript, SQL, and Python.
