  • Uk Civil Service
    Project Manager
Uk Civil Service Feb 2021 - Mar 2024
    Oxfordshire, England, United Kingdom
This role was the final inspiration for starting my own business - although I was able to do lots of things that I loved doing......there were also a fair few things that weren't my favourite. The bits of this role that I loved were: • being able to support under pressure frontline staff who we're working hard to deliver for the organisation. • creating easy ways for them to get information and resources. • challenging current processes and working out ways to make things easier, faster and better. • helping staff create a better balance between their work and home lives You'll probably notice that these are the things that I do in my business - I absolutely love supporting my clients and community members with improving their knowledge, setting up their businesses for success and supporting them through strategic shortcuts and easy to use systems. In a way that works for them, creating time and ease despite their major workloads. Setting up my business let's me do all of the things that I love and almost none of the things that I don't! Leaving this role in March 2024 has been a game changer for my business.💃🏿Skills gained: Business Case Preparation · Agile Methodologies · Stakeholder Management · Project Implementation · Business Process Improvement · Small Business Organisation · Risk Management
  • Uk Civil Service
Sustainability, Safety, Health And Environment Lead
Uk Civil Service May 2015 - Jan 2021
    Oxfordshire, England, United Kingdom
This was a life changing role for me - I was responsible for:• keeping thousands of people safe, • making sure that the audit systems we had in place were doing what they were supposed to• providing tailored advice to stakeholders at all levels as well as answering complex questions from senior staff. There's nothing like a Friday afternoon emergency to test your problem solving skills. In this role I built my skills in identifying and managing risk, this has been absorbed into how I approach so many things in my business. I help clients to manage their business risks (yes small businesses still have risks) and knowing that I've dealt with this level of challenge helps my clients know that I'm not going to lose it when things go wrong. And more importantly - that I can handle whatever they throw at me! 🤣Getting used to finding low and no cost options when problem solving was a critical skill that I was able to master during my time in this role but as the time went on I wasn't able to prioritise supporting people in the way that I wanted to. So I decided that it was time to move onto to something that would let me use everything that I'd learned and be a bit more hands on.Skills gained: Business Case Preparation · Stakeholder Management · Internal Audits · Risk Management · Project Implementation · Continuous Improvement
  • Uk Civil Service
    Business Performance Lead
Uk Civil Service Mar 2013 - Apr 2015
    Shrivenham, England, United Kingdom
Being a performance lead I mainly focused on: • Producing and presenting data relating to a funded training program, supporting future business decisions, helping to focus team delivery and to improve the offer to the program members. • Creating an Annual Report for the Customer Board and the work instructions to go with it. • Identifying enhancement of data and trend analysis where appropriate. One of the best things that I got to do whilst in this role was planning and delivering a conference for The Council of Military Education Committees (COMEC). The annual COMEC AGM and conference is the organisations most important event of the year and bringing together over 130 students, lecturers, professors and military experts was no small task. I'd never organised a conference before but I approached it like I do all tasks - with a good plan, a checklist, a colour co-ordinated spreadsheet and emergency handbag chocolate! The conference was a massive success, I got some amazing feedback from the delegates and the conference secretary asked me if I'd be interested in running the following years event! 😎Skills gained: Performance Management · Business Case Preparation · Stakeholder Management · Project Implementation · Business Process Improvement
  • Uk Civil Service
    Management Information System Team Lead
Uk Civil Service Oct 2009 - Feb 2013
    Shrivenham, England, United Kingdom
In this role I focused on: • Carrying out gap analysis on business processes. • Changing and improving processes to create and manage time. • Ad-hoc data reports and analysis of business performance.I was able to develop strong planning, organising and task monitoring skills as I was responsible for overseeing work across multiple sites and involved in a variety of change programs. Keeping all of those different moving parts in order and being able to report back on them at the drop of a hat became second nature! This was my first opportunity to manage a team and after having such an amazing manager in my previous role I focused on supporting my team to deliver their best. Often this involved giving them a safe space to talk through problems and supporting them.I learned so much in this role about people and how much of an impact life 'stuff' can have on people's day to day stress levels. And it's something that I've taken that into my business. Creating a safe space for clients and supporting them through tough times or struggles makes all the difference for them as they try to deliver the tasks needed to support their business.Skills gained: Stakeholder Management · IT Projects · Project Implementation · Time Management · Data Analysis
  • Uk Civil Service
    It Project Support And Auditor
Uk Civil Service Apr 2008 - Sep 2009
    Bath, England, United Kingdom
This was my first role in the Civil Service, I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do but after my temping role I enjoyed the fun of the teams and the work that they were doing so I was thrilled to be able to get the role. Mainly I supported frontline staff by: • Customer education - on the purpose and necessity of the project.• Delivering process review and improvement.• Creation of customer usage and key performance indicator data.• Business trend analysis and business costings.• Service management auditor - looking at the delivery of services to users, making sure that issues were resolved quickly and processes supported delivery. Doing this job was another opportunity to help people to look at the way that they were delivering in their area of the business and help them to create efficiencies to cut down on time, energy and effort. Improving systems is something that I love to do and this role let me do that all the time. I left this role on promotion to expand my Project and Programme management knowledge and experience.Skills gained: Stakeholder Management · IT Projects · Project Implementation · Business Process Improvement · Data Analysis
  • Reed
    Temporary Administrative Assistant
    Reed Jun 2007 - Mar 2008
    Bath, England, United Kingdom
Where it all started! Temping for Reed was first grown up job after finishing my Masters and moving to Somerset. I loved the idea of temping - a new job and new colleagues every couple of weeks but it turned out that I was actually pretty good at those roles so I actually only had 2 positions over the 10 months I was working for them. The second one is the one that led me into the Civil Service.I was definitely in the right place at the right time for both of these roles and I absolutely loved doing them.
