Provides primary support of technology for the Juneau Public Library. This includes server and network administration, and PC tech support for all public and staff at the three library branches. The position plans, builds, and maintains all technology systems for the libraries. This position also manages the backend and service administration of the city website and online services, working closely with the webmaster. This includes supervision of one part-time IT staff member.Goals achieved include opening a new branch and facilitating all new technology at the new facility, a complete overhaul of the city websites, replacement of all security cameras, updates to all PCs and servers, including operating systems and software, implementation of self-check machines at the busiest branch, and designing and implementing new OPAC systems and digital signage.

Analyzed and developed the $865,000 annual budget, in cooperation with the Executive Director, and worked with the Township finance department on purchases and acquisitions. Planed, developed and implemented technology in the building and online, developed policies, procedures, and staff scheduling and shared duty of employee appraisals. Major accomplishments include:• Lobbied for funding and development of the first known Mobile App for a Public Library in Pennsylvania.• Lobbied for and received capital funding for the purchase of 50 Nook Simple Touches for circulation. • Developed and built technology systems in the new building, including remote management of lighting and HVAC systems. Reduced energy costs through new technologies like LED lighting, and reconfigured the HVAC and Lighting systems. Reduced utility expenses over 45%.• Implemented the first regular staff and manager’s meetings for library staff. • In 2011, a year when no other department received any additional staffing, I successfully lobbied to expand the position of Community Relations/PR Manager in order to realize the long-term goal of raising funds for library operations.• Developed the first Volunteer Handbook and Manual.• Developed the first Emergency Procedures Manual for staff.• Built a new website for the library using Drupal 6 and remote hosting. This site includes a staff Intranet, dynamic content submitted by staff and patrons that feeds display blocks and modules throughout the site, a facility rental and library event management system that eliminates scheduling conflicts for patrons and staff, and more.• Headed the Tell Cafe Task Force and wrote the report for the library board.• Developed and built Drupal sites for fundraisers: www.forethebooks.com, and others.
