Created and managing Nash County Economic Development Initiative following the county's departure from the regional Carolinas Gateway Partnership. Nash County is home to Pfizer, Cummins Engines and Honeywell Aerospace to name a few of the industrial powerhouses that call Nash County home. Managed new national and international business locations and expansions totaling $1.5 billion capital investment and 650 jobs. Managing over $100 million and 1.2 million square feet of new industrial building product including three county-owned shell buildings. Member of the Research Triangle Regional Partnership and a Guild Partner with the Site Selectors Guild.

Represents a wealth of knowledge and experience encompassing all levels of government and private sector and created of thousands of jobs and millions in investment throughout Virginia. Former elected member of Henrico County School Board, a 62-school, 43,000-student school system. Provided leadership for Nation’s first district-wide technology teaching and learning initiative which distributed 25,000 laptops to middle and high school students and teachers. A consultant management practice focusing on the areas of economic and community development, commercial real estate and government relations. The following are key project and program successes performed on behalf of local government and private sector clients throughout Virginia: Lobbied and secured $25.0 million lake-front restaurant, lodge and conference center development in a 2,700-acre lake-front state park; and a $3.0 million grant for a 52-slip marina on a 50,000-acre lake, Town of Clarksville-Mecklenburg County. Lobbied and secured from Virginia General Assembly $2.0 million appropriations for Virginia Racing Commission marketing campaign and approval for additional off-track betting locations for Colonial Downs, Virginia’s only pari-mutuel horse racetrack, New Kent County. Secured professional management and promotional firm for a $5.0 million renovated 750-seat theatre generating 20,000 visitors annually to downtown, City of Hopewell. 100-acre, 300,000 square feet, $30.0 million John Deere “Gator” utility vehicle assembly plant creating 250 new jobs, City of Williamsburg-James City County. I-95, 300,000 square feet office, twin-tower campus for Capital One, Fredericksburg-Spotsylvania County. $27 million United Kingdom bio-energy company located within Virginia Enterprise Zone creating 80 new jobs, City of Hopewell. $15 million joint commercial loan-tax exempt bond financing for new Kappa Sigma International Fraternity Headquarters, City of Charlottesville-Albemarle County.

The Greenbrier Valley Economic Development Corporation is a quasi-government, regional economic development agency which provides support to the counties of Greenbrier, Monroe, Pocahontas and the four towns and cities within the region including the City of Lewisburg. GVEDC consists of a staff of four and $1.0 million budget. GVEDC owns, markets and manages a $3.0 million real estate portfolio consisting of six industrial buildings and four industrial parks totaling 275,000 square feet and 250 acres. The following are key project and program successes:  Supervised staff restructuring, realignment of responsibilities and new organizational focus. Applied real estate management practices to 275,000 SF of industrial buildings generating within one-year new leases and revenue of $259,000. Managed four new business locations and expansions totaling $61 million capital investment and 325 new jobs. Initiated historic tax credit redevelopment of former high school building in Downtown into boutique hotel totaling $25.0 million, Town of White Sulfur Springs.  Received approval for three federal government Opportunity Zones. Managed I-64 location of $45 million state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, the West Virginia Great Barrel Company, Town of White Sulfur Springs. Initiated and developed the first regional strategic economic development plan. Initiated study to analyze the region’s potential to attract the aerospace industry and received national certification as an AEROready region. Established public-private partnership with property owners to plan and develop a 100-acre, I-64 industrial park in Greenbrier County. Leased GVEDC 30,000 square foot shell building after being vacant for 15 years since the construction of the building, Pocahontas County. Partnered with community leaders and Greenbrier Valley Airport Authority to identify new air passenger service and connections to Chicago O’Hare and Washington-Dulles International Airports.

Participated in the development and initiation of a new national marketing strategy for the Commonwealth of Virginia to promote Virginia to Fortune 500 companies which included marketing missions, trade shows and one-on-one presentations to corporate executives throughout the United States. Managed and negotiated with the Governor’s Office incentive packages and corporate locations to communities throughout Virginia totaling $185 million investment and 3,500 new jobs.

Opened and supervised first economic development and tourism office. Served as project manager for the redevelopment of a former one million square foot manufacturing plant into a modern business park and was successful in locating the national headquarters of A. Smith Bowman Distillery and seven other regional, national and international companies to the new park. Successfully managed and negotiated new company locations and expansions totaling $125.0 million and 2,500 new jobs.
