Worked directly with customers, prospects and partners to evaluate and pilot software projects using the Actian Analytical Platform. During customer engagements it was required to assist in installation, optimization, troubleshooting and solution architecture. One of the primary responsibilities was understanding the Hadoop ecosystem and how the Actian applications fit in that ecosystem. This required an in depth knowledge of all Hadoop components including HDFS, YARN, Spark, Hbase, Hive, MapReduce, and several vendor specific offerings. One set of responsibilities was to build out environments to showcase features and benefits of the Actian portfolio. Another responsibility was providing training, architecture evaluation, and sales support for partners. This included technology partners such as Cloudera, HortonWorks and MapR; also ISV’s and implementation partners. Actian also provided several analytics offering that provided data mining and advanced analytics. These analytics included regressions, clustering, market basket analysis, classifications, and many others. Since there were several methods for delivering analytics, it was a requirement to help customers evaluate which technology tier was best to deploy their analytics (Hadoop, in-database, stand-alone). Another responsibility was managing the demo and test environments for sales, services, QA, and engineering. This required deep knowledge of LINUX and Windows operating systems, VMWare ESX environment, all Hadoop distributions and their different versions, Active directory, LDAP, Kerberos, and many other technologies too numerous to mention.

Supported sales efforts within the Southwest and Northwest regions. Lead the completion of customer specific presentations, RFI/RFP, customer specific events (user groups, “Lunch and Learns”, user conferences), large scale proof of concepts. Worked to achieve level 2 HANA certification which provided the opportunity to assist and lead HANA technical academies. Worked on many large and complex POC's in the Southwest US (TOLA) which required a deep knowledge of all of the core SAP products and the many acquisitions that were made over the years. Some of the technologies and products included Business Objects (BOE), Crystal Reports, Xcelsius (Dashboard designer), Web intelligence, Universe development and management, HANA, Explorer, BWA, BW, SybaseIQ, SybaseASE, Sybase Unwired Platform, Data Federator, Data Services, BW Extractors.

Supported the Enterprise Southwest sales team for the Information, Discovery and Delivery segment of the Business Objects product line. These products included Crystal Reports, Web Intelligence and Crystal Xcelsius, and BusinessObjects Enterprise. Worked directly with sales staff to build value based presentations and proposals based or requirements gather during customer interview and engagements. Perform routine health checks with existing customers to ensure both the success of current projects, but also attempt to expand footprint into new areas. Provided customer related demonstrations specific to industry or vertical, for example oil and gas, retail, or consumer packaged goods. Also participated and lead proof of concepts which required the installation and configuration within the customers’ environments.

Responsible for direct technical engagement with all potential and returning clients. This included understanding customers’ current hardware and software configuration, designing a solution that fit their infrastructure, and demonstrating that solution.
