Joy A. Johnson is the Small Business Administration’s 2023 Maryland Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year. She is a multi-licensed beauty professional, former adjunct professor, international beauty educator, author, and sole proprietor of Nails & Faces of Joy, LLC the parent company of Joy of Beauty ®.Joy draws her inspiration from her mother—the late Joyce Norris—a former fashion model and flight attendant who was diagnosed with cancer when Joy was 14. Joyce instilled in Joy an appreciation of healthy lifestyles and reminded her that what you put on your body is as important as what you put in your body. Though her mother passed as a result of her cancer, Joyce’s lessons on healthy living have remained with Joy throughout her career.Joy entered the beauty business in 2007. She is a Licensed Nail Technician specializing in Diabetic Pedicures and a Licensed Esthetician. She is also an international educator, lecturer, and skilled presenter who has spoken within the European Union and throughout the United States. Joy has also had editorial features published in Real Simple Magazine, Ebony, Good Housekeeping, and Cosmobiz Magazine.Since 2019, Joy of Beauty Brand has grown from two products/ SKUs to seven, with lines for men, women, gift packs and products specifically for nails or body care. All of Joy of Beauty’s products are vegan, cruelty-free, and toxin-free, with no artificial dyes, or artificial fragrances brand, and all are manufactured in the USA. All of our products are formulated specifically with diabetic and immunocompromised individuals in mind.Joy is also the author of JOY, the KEY to Entrepreneurial Happiness: A Millennials Guide to Starting, Continuing, and Reinventing Your Business. In her book, Joy explains how life events that threaten to derail your plans can be used as tools to teach, reinvent and propel you forward.
