These actions are organized in an annually updated Monarch Conservation Implementation Plan, which serves as a framework to guide conservation planning for individuals, partners, or other interested stakeholders nationally.As a leader in monarch conservation, the MJV supports monarch conservation planning and implementation efforts on a broad scale by facilitating information sharing, partnership building, and carrying out identified conservation priorities. We facilitate multiple working groups that focus on things like communications, agriculture, and monitoring. Additionally, the MJV funds our partners to carry out priority actions identified in the Implementation Plan. Beyond this, we provide key and accessible information on monarchs and their conservation to various sectors and the public.To reach our nation’s ambitious monarch and habitat targets, commitment from a diverse set of stakeholders is required. The MJV works to recruit, educate, engage, and inspire to action a broad spectrum of individuals and entities, both partner and non-partner.

As a member of the executive staff of the Wildlife habitat Council, Redick oversaw WHC’s Knowledge Center, specifically responsible for all education and training through the Conservation Academy (reaching more than 10,000 learners from 2015-2019 through public and customized online offerings with a 98% satisfaction rate against learning goals) and coordinated all strategic partnerships with, NGOs and agencies. She was responsible for organizing and implementing the annual Conservation Conference (bringing in over $2 million in revenue from 2015-19 in conjunction with the WHC marketing team) and managing all vendor contracts and content. Redick managed grants, served on the Education Operating Committee of Project Learning Tree 207-2019 and also wrote curriculum for site-based STEM for corporate habitats. In 2019 the USDA/US Forest Service honored Thelma with an award of merit for her “outstanding efforts in leading partnerships” ; Redick was also recognized for more than 15 years of service to the North American Pollinator Protection Campaign’s education task force in 2019 by the Pollinator Partnership. In her prior position at WHC (2003- 2015: Director of Conservation Education and Outreach), Redick oversaw the Corporate Lands for Learning Program, with more than 140 certified programs around the world including the US, Canada, Mexico, Scotland and Indonesia—these sites opened up private lands for public learning. She also organized more than 20 regional education workshops, large and small, for teachers and corporate conservation volunteers, while contributing content to WHC’s annual conference.
