Current responsibilities • Maximize plant performance on a daily basis in order to achieve plant QCDEP objectives by utilizing my knowledge of the plant and problem solving skills • Perform analysis of the plants auxiliary equipment, making technical recommendations for optimal run ability • Liaise with Engineering department to ensure maximum plant availability • Facilitates the plants annual shut process from an operation perspective, develops safe work procedures and lockout procedures • Develop Best Practices on plant operation e.g. Start-up / Shut downs / checklists for production and perform audits on checklists• Reviews critical performance parameters on a daily basis and addressing any potential risks for uninterrupted run ability.• Takes immediate action on operating parameters out of specification by making the appropriate technical adjustments as required• Maintains a historical account of operating parameters, monitoring them for longer-term potential deviations.• Involved in completing the high leverage analysis on the recovery furnaces• Supports all problem investigations that may arise from the plant.• Mentor and coach operating personnel and trainees in the effective operating practices for the plant.• Co-ordinates scheduled maintenance on plant equipment and isolations with Artisans.• Develops documentation on both plants for computer based training programs.• Reviewing training documentation being done on section by training department.• Conducts licensing and marking of plant tests for operators and Shift Superintendents.• Attends training courses for upgrade projects to enable training for fellow operating teams.• Does detailed planning on the production side for planned shutdowns of the plant and produces valve / equipment lists for shut work.• Daily checks and reviews on of Gas Producers, Causticiser and Lime Kiln plants.• Mentoring of process trainees on plant equipment, flows and problem solving.

Responsibilities •Assures that daily water, effluent and sewage quality complies to specifications and take the necessary corrective action.•Manages of Storm water.•Prepares monthly storm water report for Water affairs.•Manages Sappi Farm when farm manager is on leave. 32 employees.•Controls raw materials (calcium hydroxide, polymer).•Approves shift roster and overtime.•Maintains budget control.•Responsible for safety items.•Reviews weekly and monthly river and eye flows and formulate report.•Monitors results of bacteriological counts and take corrective action to assure compliance to standards (standard plate count, Coli and E-Coli).

Responsibilities •Updates P & IDs for plant modification and HAZOP.•Creates and updates Best Operating Practices and Problem Solving Guides.•Involved in Profit Improvement Projects.•Performs RCAs and HAZOPs.•Assists the Process Engineer with quality issues, Technical projects, problem solving and investigations.•Acts as a Process Engineer.•Monitor fresh or hot water usage and effluent generated.•Troubleshoots research and analyses technical information.•Carries out routine test work in support of process optimization (this includes calibration of on-line equipment).•Performs SHEQ audits of all sections of the mill when tasked.•Writes technical report.•Performs production standby.
