About Adam J. Wilson

I believe that the greatest business challenge facing brands today is often self-inflicted: relying on advertising alone to solve marketing problems, and marketing alone to solve business problems. Yeah, it’s complicated. Let’s have a beer and talk about it. Backgrounder:One year into my first job at J. Walter Thompson I asked myself: “What if I move from the Account side to be a Writer”?Then I kept asking “what if.”At the world’s first “digital agency,” we broke new ground with “The Patriot Factor”, the first crowd-authored comic book, a Jeep/Marvel collab. Then created the first interactive feature-length film. All before "content marketing" was a thing. In Chicago I led integrated brand experiences for clients like Disney, cars.com, Bud Light, Alpo and Kraft Brands. Which often meant harmonizing the “digital" and "traditional" purests. Like, Oscar Night work for Miracle Whip - TV spots, live-tweeting and FB engagement, synched. Built a socially-connected, tele-present robot so haters could bash a Miracle Whip piñata. I also called upon my deep auto experience to create the first vehicle launch on Twitter – for the Weinermobile. And for a Detroit boy, it was therapeutic to make a commercial satirizing auto ads. 
I also like to build real things. So, running Brand Marketing for Carhartt North America was not only a dream job, it opened my eyes and humbled me. I learned the strategic long game, and what it takes to bring demonstrative purpose to an iconic brand. Also discovered why Clients can be tough to get a hold of sometimes. Then the chance to design and build an entirely new kind of agency presented itself. The culmination of my triumphs and failures. Add my childhood hero and massively talented friends, and it all finally feels right. Some awards here and there have made the bosses happy - Effies, Webby's, Lions and recognition in ComArts.
I live in Milford, Michigan with the Mayor of Radtown (my Wife) and our 4 human experiments.
