About Michelle Smith

Circle Forward co-founder, trainer, facilitator & consultant, Michelle calls herself a Societal Transformationist working to create a world that works for all. For more than 25 years Michelle (she/her) has worked with networks, for-profit and nonprofit businesses that are contributing to a vision of prosperity, vitality and peace for the whole community. Michelle is a lifelong learner. In 2018 she completed the "Leading through Facilitation and Engagement w/ and Equity Lens" course at Lenoir-Rhyne University. In 2020 she completed the "Network Leadership Training Academy". She also participated in REI’s Phase 1 training and plans to complete REI’s training as opportunities arise. She currently hosts the Blue Ridge NVC Practice Group as part of her journey to certification through the Center of Nonviolent Communication. Michelle is also a certified Life-Cycle Celebrant and minister in the New Thought tradition. As a Permaculture enthusiast she is a land-partner in Patchwork Urban Farms in Asheville, NC. Asheville Celebrant:As a Celebrant my goal is always and only to create the ceremony or service that most authentically reflects the beliefs, personality, philosophy of life and sense of beauty of the persons being honored. Marriage, death and birth are certainly the most common life-events for which I help people create ceremonies, as well as ceremonies for businesses. I have created and performed ceremonies in my community for over two decades -- from personal rites-of-passage with only three people in attendance to Opening Ceremonies for large audiences.
