Thenuga is a practitioner of vina and a disciple of Professor Karaikudi Subramanian, studying within the traditional gurukula system at Brhaddhvani. Currently, she is undertaking an arts practice PhD in music at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, University of Limerick. Thenuga is the recipient of scholarships from Augustinus Fonden, Knud Højgaards Fond, Dansk Musiker Forbund and Dansk Artist Forbund for her studies at Brhaddhvani and for her doctoral work at the Irish World Academy. Alongside her training, Thenuga continues to accompany her guru on stage and assist him during his academic visits.
