Two Three Bird is a global provider of specialist cyclist insurance solutions to partners in the US, UK, South Africa and Australia. Our plug and play solution enables seamless integrations with partner businesses, providing our partners with offerings that enhance their customer value proposition and drive growth. Two Three Bird started as Velosure. Moving to Australia from South Africa in 2008, I saw the pressing need and corresponding business opportunity for a new insurance product. Establishing Australia’s first specialist cyclist insurance brand in partnership with Hollard Insurance, I have taken a hands-on role in the business’ growth and scale, driving all strategy and execution from digital/ecommerce build to market/industry education. Rebranding as Two Three Bird in 2014 to drive international expansion, I lead a cross-functional, dispersed team of 46 people across Australia, USA, South Africa and the UK. We are on the cusp of major expansion in the US and the UK. Established a tech-centred insurance provider offering end-to-end insurance solutions to partners globally, including Chain Reaction Cycles, Velosure (AUS), Wiggle, Sundays Insurance, Bicycle Network and Real Insurance;Formed key partnerships with Strava in the US and Wiggle in the UK, USA and Australia to develop innovative product offerings; Built a specialist product providing cyclists with comprehensive insurance cover unique to the market;Champion the employment of ex-professional cyclists as and cycling industry experts to develop the best products and enabling customers to engage in highly technical discussions about cycling insurance needs.

Driven to help people transform their lives through cycling, I developed multiple national cycling series to raise the profile of the sport in South Africa. Later on, I created a similar series through Velosure in Australia. Leading all activity to commercialise existing or set up new events, I secured endorsement from the peak cycling bodies, formed partnerships with corporate sponsors and built awareness of the sporting events through TV exposure and other media.

Co-founder of an innovative financial services company, I played a leading role in expanding the business across South Africa via a partnership model which expanded into other state builds and government service lines.
