Mechanical Engineer supporting the operation, maintenance and testing of three water treatment plants and water transmission systems for the Southern Nevada Water Authority.

Was the Lead Equipment Engineer assigned to the Duke Energy Progress, Asheville, 560 MW, 2x1x1 Combined Cycle Power Plant Project. Defined scopes of supply in accordance with EPC contract requirements and drafted detailed technical specifications and data sheets formechanical equipment. Supported equipment procurement through the competitive bidding, technical bid analysis, vendor selection and contract award phases. Managed equipment contracts through the vendor design and equipment manufacturing stages. Interfaced with McDermott’s project engineering and procurement groups and the client’s Project Management Team to support engineering execution of this contract. Prior to the Asheville Project, provided front-end engineering and design to size equipment and mechanical systems and provided cost data incorporated into proposals to engineer, procure and construct greenfield, combined cycle power plants and an SCR system for a coal fired power plant.

Provided engineering and project management support for the construction, commissioning, turn-over, warranty and commercial operation of three, 131 MW, solar concentrating tower boilers at the Ivanpah, Solar Electric Generating Station Project. Oversaw and assisted with EPC Contractor’s daily construction and start-up activities and ensured that SRSG’s were constructed and commissioned in accordance with purchase and construction contracts, Owner’s requirements, boiler codes and best industry practices. Facilitated the resolution of design, construction and a multitude of problematic start-up issues. Interfaced daily with the BrightSource project team, Owner’s representatives, SRSG supplier’s Project Engineers, vendor TA’s, contractors and BrightSource’s home office engineering group. Supervised specialized construction activities performed by the EPC Contractor. Administered the issue of, response to and resolution of RFI’s and NCR’s. Supported commissioning activities including boiler chemical cleaning, steam blows, initial flux application, flux ascension and SRSG testing. Provided engineering guidance and critical input on engineering, design and construction issues not addressed in contracts and provided essential input to the BrightSource project team for the management of service and equipment sub-contracts, change orders, back-charges and potential cost issues. Managed major modifications to the boiler panel insulation systems at all three SRSG’s. Worked as SRSG Consultant by supporting project development for emerging projects overseas and supporting operations, maintenance and annual outage planning for the SRSG’s at Ivanpah.

Project Engineer, New Generation Project Management Dept., for the Harry Allen Generating Station, 2x1, 495 MW, Brownfield Combined-Cycle Plant Expansion Project. Provided engineering and project management support through the construction, commissioning and warranty periods of this brownfield, 2x1, F-Class, 495 MW, natural gas-fired power plant. Was a key member of the Project Management Team. Supported the EPC Contractor, Owner's Engineer, contractors, equipment suppliers and various departments within NV Energy. Reviewed and critiqued EPC Contractor’s submittals for engineering specifications, designs, drawings and equipment procurement. Oversaw EPC Contractor’s engineering, procurement and construction activities and vigorously enforced compliance with the EPC contract, design codes and industry standards. Flagged deficiencies in construction, issued construction quality surveillance reports and negotiated the re-work of construction and equipment installation. Motivated EPC contractor to implement changes and improvements in design and construction to the benefit of NV Energy. Supervised and coordinated construction activities and performed as liaison between the EPC Contractor, the PMT and NV Energy generation staff. Oversaw vendor representative’s site activities. Additional responsibilities included supporting the Project Implementation Plan, Construction Safety Plan and Lessons Learned Matrix. Issued, reviewed and responded to RFI’s and NCR’s and issued weekly and monthly construction progress reports. Reviewed and commented upon system turn-over packages, logged and oversaw the completion of construction and commissioning punch lists and assisted with document control. Supported the warranty program and project close-out. Was Project Engineer for multiple, capital closeout and out-of-scope projects required for the combined cycle plant and funded through the expansion project budget.

Project Engineer, New Generation Project Management Dept., for the Tracy Generating Station, 2x1, 514 MW, Brownfield Combined-Cycle Plant Expansion Project from initial project development and FEED through the construction, commissioning, turn-over and warranty periods. Provided engineering and project management support for the construction of this brownfield, 2x1, F-Class, 514 MW, natural gas-fired power plant. Responsibilities included all those assigned to the Harry Allen Combined Cycle Project, and was Project Engineer for out-of-scope projects, including the Tracy Station, integrated water treatment plant and the fuel gas regulating station for the new power block. Managed the entire scope of site preparation for the new power block, including the decommissioning, sale, removal, relocation, salvage, demolition and disposal of existing structures, equipment and utilities within the construction area.

Engineer III, Tracy Generating StationProvided engineering and project support for the operation of this eight unit, gas and oil-fired power plant with two Westinghouse simple cycle CT's, two GE simple cycle CT's, a 1x1 combined cycle unit and three gas and oil-fired steam units.
