Developed VHDL ORAN implementation for 5g NR Radio Unit based on Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ RFSoC. Designed, implemented, simulated, and troubleshooted 10G/25G packet processing logic at 490MHz clock rate. Wrote self-checking unit test simulations with VUnit framework.Setup HW test systems with 1G/10G/100G Ethernet Switches, VSAs, VSGs, RF switches, and Linux servers. Debugged 5g NR lower-PHYs implemented in SysGen. Worked in remote team spread across 3 continents to meet delivery targets.

Developed handheld Ethernet and WiFi testing products including Etherscope nXG and LinkRunner G2. Worked on all aspects of system design: power supplies, isolated flyback, PMIC, CPU/DDR system, battery charging, USB Type-C, USB OTG, Ethernet PHY, FPGA, Display, Touch, MEMs sensors, camera, flash, and connectors. Protocols included PCIe, USXGMII, RGMII, SGMII, MIPI, I2C, UART, and SPI.Held primary responsibility for analog measurement system performing Power Over Ethernet (POE) and physical layer cable testing and locating functions. Reduced cost by 65% and PCB area by 40% over several generations while improving accuracy and adding new features. System based on ST Micro STM32 microcontroller and analog peripherals including ADC, op-amps, timers, analog switches, and protection circuitry. Developed software to perform 802.3bt 90W POE physical layer negotiation on custom hardware.Developed VHDL for Intel Cyclone 5, Arria 10, and Xilinx Artix-7 FPGAs. Functionality included 10G Ethernet, protocol parsing, packet capture to DDR memory, line rate performance test and processor interconnect via PCIe. Improved transmit performance by 400% by implementing a DMA scatter gather system. Reduced block RAM usage of 10G protocol parsing solution by 95%.Verified and troubleshooted hardware using tools including power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers. Solved radiated and conducted emissions problems as well as ESD failures to get products certified for sale in the US and abroad.
