Theodore Liebman, FAIA, is a leading expert in the design of large-scale urban developments. His work is dedicated to issues of housing, lifestyle, and culture in the urban environment as part of a comprehensive view of long-term sustainability that has challenged the limits of density and celebrated urban communities. He engages in dialogue with governments, investors, developers, and students to examine the impacts of development on people and the environment to improve cities and shape future settlements. He is currently a principal at Perkins Eastman, a leading global architectural and planning firm. He is a board member of the Consortium for Sustainable Urbanization (CSU). From 1970 to 1975 he was Chief of Architecture at the New York State Urban Development Corporation. From 1975 to 1977, he was with the Harvard Institute for International Development in Tehran, Iran. From 1979 to 2007, Mr. Liebman was a Founding Partner in The Liebman Melting Partnership. In 2007, he joined Perkins Eastman where he focuses on developments in the Middle- East, Russia, Eastern Europe, and Sub-Sahara Africa. During his career, he has worked on projects in Italy, Germany, Russia, the Ukraine, Poland, the Czech Republic, Azerbaijan, Turkey, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Nigeria.Mr. Liebman is a past president of the NY Chapter of the AIA. Recipient of the Andrew J. Thomas Pioneer in Housing Award in 1988. Recipient of the Ratensky Lecture- 2005, which honors those who have made significant lifetime contributions to the advancement of housing and community design. Mr. Liebman is an Adjunct Professor at NYU's Urban Design and Architectural Studies Program. Education: B.Arch - Pratt Institute, M.Arch - Harvard University GSD. Fellow of the American Academy in Rome. Recipient- Wheelwright Travelling Fellowship from Harvard University. He has lectured extensively and served on architectural juries at universities in the United States, S.America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
