As the Northside Precinct Chair, I serve to engage the voters in the Northside neighborhood--an area that has a large student population. Specific duties include running poll sites and canvassing voter education literature.

In this role, I serve as the mediator between UNC-Chapel Hill and the Orange County Democratic Party. Responsibilities include student voter outreach/education, fundraising for UNC Young Democrats, and co-hosting town hall events.

In this position, I serve as the leader of our organization and am responsible for alloutward-facing communications. Responsibilities include running officer meetings,coordinating with other student organizations, interacting with the Democratic Party, andplanning events for the organization. This year, I hope to grow and maintain our membership in the leadup to the general election through culturally inclusive events that spark discussion and innovation.

In this position, I worked as the primary advisor to and supporter of the President and fulfilled their duties when they weren't present. The position also oversaw the civic engagement and community service committees in our organization. I organized and participated in weekly voter registration drives, candidate visits, advocacy campaigns, outreach training, poll greets, canvasses, fundraisers, and political rallies. A few notable events include organizing and speaking at a 300+ rally for U.S. Senate candidate Cheri Beasley alongside U.S. Senator Jon Ossof of Georgia and leading a group of students to lobby for affordable housing during our annual D.C. trip.

As Outreach and Programming Director I spearheaded our organization's adopt-a-policy initiative that semester, environmental policy. That fall lobbied S.872 : “Environmental Justice for All Act.” to members of the N.C. delegation in D.C. The bill would establish various environmental justice requirements, advisory boards and programs to address the adverse effects that environmental policies have on communities of color, low income communities, or indigenous communities. That fall we also showcased the work of UNC organization Solar Equity, an environmental service group working to make solar power more affordable and accessible to low-income housing.

At the start of this position, I worked to help elect Democrats down the ballot in North Carolina leading up to the 2020 General Election. This work included weekly virtual candidate visits, phone banks, text banks, and social media infographics. After the election, I worked to create an adopt-a-policy initiative in which our organization would vote on a policy area to advocate for that semester. That spring we focused on student debt relief and I helped lead a letter-writing campaign urging President Biden and the U.S. Congress to cancel some student debt. Additionally, I organized and participated in weekly in-person voter registration.

For a year I worked under Former Congressmember and Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Mel Watt. In this hybrid role, I worked on editing a written piece for Watt and participated in research through the UNC library.
