I joined Spike Lab as the first hire, and have worked to build out our coaching program helping teens deepen their sense of purpose through ambitious entrepreneurial passion projects. In that time, I've worked with over a hundred students, supporting them in launching startups, nonprofits, art projects and more. Through these experiences, they learned valuable life and career skills, and ultimately gained admissions to highly selective institutions including Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Stanford, Penn/Wharton, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, UChicago, Duke, Northwestern, and countless others. Over the years in my capacity as a founding team member I have worn many hats, taking on roles as needed including Chief of Staff, Head Coach, and Director of College Outcomes.

I was the 3rd hire for an startup consultancy that worked as a matchmaker between edtech companies and universities. I spent hundreds of hours on college campuses consulting with faculty and administrators.

Ithaca, Ny

I served as the first point of contact for professors, students, and external researchers, helping them access the collection materials and instructing on archival research best practices. Every question we would get was like a mini scavenger hunt that required a deep dive into the collection. I also processed archival materials, including the Velvet Underground collection.

Greater Los Angeles Area

After graduation, I drove out west and signed with a manager who had scouted me. Spent over a year pitching to networks (including MTV, Comedy Central, and FOX), writing spec scripts and pilots, and assisting various folks. Ultimately decided that the industry and LA wasn't for me and left, but not before turning down a full-time job on a show I was offered.

I was a massive fan of The Capitol Steps - a musical political satire troupe. In fact, I had written my college supplemental essay for Cornell on them. After a performance, I spoke to them to see if they ever hired interns, and they ended up bringing me on for a project.

I spent much of my college years holed up in the basement of Olin Library where I processed archival collections as they came in. It was a quiet job that required significant organizational thinking, and I set my own hours. Plus it meant getting to go down all kinds of historical rabbit holes.

Greater Boston Area

My school required that students complete an internship at the end of their senior year. I discovered that the game studio that designed my favorite game at the time (Lord of the Rings Online) was down the street. I sent them a cover letter, cold and unsolicited, and included links to a popular build I had designed for one of the game's character classes. Got the internship, and spent a month working in the QA department, which made for one of the most fun times of my teenage life.
