Working hands on with my customers on simple designs to very complicated ones that contain thousands of components. Power design seems to be the area where most customers need help.

Responsible for Bay Area Customers, supporting company wide product lines from power to high speed analog, from audio to video, and everything in between and beyond.Power design from mA to hundred amps, single phase, muti-phase, buck, boost, etc.

● Defined, architected, tested and provided application support for two new generation buck regulators that reduce power consumption in customer application products using Advanced Voltage Scaling (AVS).● Launched a triple programmable buck regulator with integrated sequencing, ADC, comparators and GPOs.● Defined an innovative energy saving IC for consumer and industrial markets.

● Market researched and defined 10 new ICs for low voltage power supplies, switching and linear regulators, controllers and LED drivers.● Defined new system solutions for battery charging and balancing, low noise linear / switching combo regulators, and automotive grade products.● Launched a regulator module line and an ultra-low voltage boost regulator.

● Managed a team of six people in charge of a very high complexity SoC.● Architected and designed several complete DVD players (desktop, portable & automotive) for very high volume OEM customers.● Validated and released a portable market custom IC● Brought the product to $60M annual sales.● Worked with process engineers to increase yield.● Eradicated a package problem that saved $2M.● By implementing an innovative test method reduced customer returns 100 times, exceeded customer expectations, extended product life by 5 years and added $75M revenue.

● Developed 4 generations of DVD VLSI ICs.● Architecture, package and pin-out definition, debug, validation and test development, evaluation boards design, design reviews, designs for customer mass production.● Designed power systems, audio and video filters/amps/line drivers, optical link, ADC/DAC, PLL, EMI compliance.● Hired and trained 4 engineers for application functions and managed 3 in-house contractors.● Launched the DVD product in 1999, followed through with about 20 customers, trade shows and demos.● Reduced total system cost by 30% by optimizing interface circuits, reducing memory needs, integrating additional functions (system standby controller, front panel display), and creatively defining the product to allow a 2-layer PCB instead of the previous 4-layer design.
