First elected as Chairman in July 2015 and unanimously re-elected in April 2016 and 2018 to serve as County Board Chairman of Wisconsin's only first class county - with a population of nearly 1M and an annual budget in excess of $1B.

Elected to the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors, representing the First District, in a successful April 1, 2008 write-in campaign against a 12-year incumbent. Re-elected in 2012 following redistricting to a newly comprised district that includes more than 52K citizens of Bayside, Brown Deer, Fox Point, Glendale, River Hills and many northeast neighborhoods of the City of Milwaukee. Re-elected once again in April 2016 and 2018 (despite a more than $1 million campaign against him).Committee Assignments: served on every standing committee of the County Board including as Co-Chair of the Finance, Personnel and Audit Committee.Appointed to and served on the Milwaukee County Research Park Corporation Board, Wisconsin Counties Association, the Board of Trustees of the Milwaukee Public Library, the East Wisconsin Counties Railroad Consortium and South East Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission.

Consulting throughout the State of Wisconsin with nonprofits and units of local government; specializing in affordable housing programs, projects and community revitalization initiatives.

Helped to guide a nascent community development corporation in their efforts at commercial revitalization and conversion of an obsolete apartment building into mixed income condominiums.
