I am a Business Owner and Founder of The Only Straw, a company that provides rice and tapioca straws that are compostable, eco-friendly single-use drinking straws to the hospitality industry in Australia. I have over 20 years of experience in the hospitality sector, having owned and operated two eco boutique hotels in Lombok, Indonesia.My “WHY” is to help the fast-food industry and their customers reduce their environmental impact and enjoy a positive change with a product that works. Unlike paper straws, which are wasteful and unpleasant and often contain chemicals, our straws are made from rice flour and tapioca starches, which are degradable, home compostable, and zero waste. They last in a drink and do not taste like cardboard. I founded The Only Straw in 2020. I have been a recognised leader and a grand finalist in the Startup Gippsland awards in 2020.
