As an Award-Winning Community Organizer and Leader, Sergio Suarez has committed his life work to both uplift and nurture Bay Area young voices and identities of color. Since 2004 he has created and fought for equitable reform within education while creating platforms and spaces for youth to express and heal. Centering his work in honoring the students cultural kinesthetics and heritages, he has positively impacted the lives of thousands of youths in the Bay Area and across the globe. Sergio is currently a third year EdD Doctoral student at California State University East Bay in the Educational Leadership in Social Justice program. Aside from pursuing a Doctorates degree, he also holds an MBA in Design Strategy from California College of the Arts. In 2019 he was honored by Congressman Ro Khana (CA-17) and received Congressional recognition as a LatinX community leader for his commitment and dedication to support and advocate for historically marginalized and disenfranchised communities of color. On top of the many accolades and awards that Sergio has received throughout the years, it’s his respect, love and commitment for Hip Hop Culture that has remained at the center and forefront of his work.
