Responsible for accounting for international sales & marketing, head office programs, loyalty marketing, centralised travel agent commissions, IT recharges, royalties, intercompany loan movements and interest, subsidiaries and reconciling accounts for consolidation purposes. Prepared monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations.• Reduced intercompany balances significantly ($6m to $2m) by rebuilding working relations with international financial controllers and by seeking proactive solutions.• Reviewed weaknesses within processes and implemented changes to streamline and standardise them. • Identified and presented to management that existing interhotel statement reporting structure was inefficient and highlighted potential benefits of using web-based reporting. This was part of an overall feasibility study into the purchase and implementation of a new accounting system. • Assisted our joint venture companies in the implementation of their web-based billing infrastructure by acting as a point of contact between them and the hotel financial controllers to ensure that information requirements were achieved. • Sought feedback from team members and hotel financial controllers to identify opportunities to improve the quality of the service provided by our team. These changes were implemented and documented in procedure notes on an ongoing basis. • Set out objectives, lead and instructed project personnel in order to meet objectives. Tasks were delegated to project team members to ensure that work was done in a coordinated and timely way. Team progress was tracked and necessary action was taken to meet objectives. Show less
