Writing Coach/Mentor
CurrentAlgonkian Writer Retreat and novel workshop emphasizes the model-and-context teaching method, the art of dramatic structure, market knowledge, critique from professionals only, small group environment, and the pitch as a diagnostic workshop method.Includes pre-event studies and pre-event phone consultation, a broader range of faculty, a handful of vital workshops, as well as extended personal time with business professionals. It takes place at Algonkian Park in Virginia--a beautiful and rather enormous expanse of land beside the Potomac River, yet only minutes from quality restaurants and shopping. The scenery, the local wildlife and deer families, the walks along the river and hiking trails, all combine to provide you with an environment conducive to productive writing and soul searching. This place is where Algonkian Writer Conferences began, and it's our favorite place to be. Writers design their own retreat. You can be as goal-oriented or spontaneous as you wish. You can show us your manuscript, improve your skills, have your work read by our writer mentors, attend our workshops, pitch a literary agent or two, whatever works for you, whatever helps you grow and discover your vision as a writer.
Editor In Chief
CurrentDel Sol Press seeks to publish exceptional work by both new and recognized writers, as well as republish literary works that we consider extremely significant and that have gone out of print. Our approach is eclectic, but our emphasis is on original, unique, and accessible work WITH AN EDGE. As such, we eschew noncommunicative forms (language poetry rip-offs, Finnegan's Wake imitations, and so forth) and genre fiction (unless exceptional). http://www.delsolpress.org/about.htm

CurrentThrough The Real Writer Editing Services, I offer critique and developmental editing services for writers of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. My goal is to provide you with the tools and skills to empower and inspire you as you revise your current work and that of future projects. I specialize in poetry and novels (I have worked in all genres) but in my 35+ years of editing, I have also worked with many creative/nonfiction and memoir writers. I will give your work the energy, care, and attention it deserves. It's very exciting when everything comes together and the best version of the piece (story, poem, essay, etc.) is realized--one that reflects a writer's voice and goals. Supporting writers in making that happen is my priority. If you are ready to explore and be both inspired and challenged (and amazed by what you can do!), then get in touch at therealwriter@gmail.com. Founding Director, Program Manager, Instructor
The Write Here, Write Now workshops were founded to create and sustain a community of writers in Baltimore, and give each member a place to develop their voice and vision in an non-academic setting. Productive, supportive feedback and encouragement were offered, while honoring the mystery and magic of writing, as well as technique/craft. A good workshop experience was key--experimenting with, and exploring a writer's abilities, as well as discovering new ones. We worked with local organizations to deepen and expand the writing experience/life by offering writers the opportunity to participate in readings, publication of their work in an annual anthology, creative projects to be displayed in gallery shows, performances of their plays by local theatre companies, participation in area literary/book festivals, and interaction with the media.

During the residency, created the Write Here, Write Now workshop program, hosted and participated in writing related gallery shows, readings, play productions, and open studio events.
