For the past two decades, I've had the privilege of making a living as a staffed journalist, honing my skills at two of the nation's greatest legacy publications to write about a range of fields, including arts and entertainment, sports and business. Along the way, I sought to cultivate my outlet's multicultural coverage, which is not a niche but rather a lens through which all sectors are better understood.Now journalism is at a crossroads, and so am I. What I didn't expect through simply pursuing the stories and subjects I was interested in as a reporter was that I would develop a professional reputation for explicating systems of injustice and amplifying the underserved. I am seeking to continue that impact through opportunities that will allow me to leverage my public profile, deep experience and contacts within the media and entertainment industries, particularly among people of the global majority. I believe their equitable engagement as consumers, colleagues and leaders is key to the recovery and health of our shared community.
