While in this position, I have taught a variety of high school science subjects including Earth Science, Biology, Physical Science, Forensics, Ecology, Geology. Additionally, I have taught Junior High Pre-Algebra, Junior High Accelerated Pre-Algebra and High School Algebra. Elective classes that I have taught include Health, Physical Education, Study Skills and Fine Arts. I have coached or sponsored extracurriculars including Junior High Basketball, Junior High Robotics, High School Speech, GEAR UP and Upward Bound.In addition to my teaching and coaching roles, I have acted as the Secondary Grades team leader, the Secondary Professional Learning Community (PLC) team lead, Art Liaison, CHAMPS (classroom management) coach, strategic planning team teacher representative, Chefornak School AKSTEPP teacher representative and a mentor to a student-teacher.Per district requirements or for personal interest, I have attended multiple professional development sessions held via the Lower Kuskokwim School Districtwide Annual Conference, National Science Teachers Association regional and national conferences, the Response to Intervention (RTI) Conference, or Alaska Staff Development Network (ASDN) webinar series.

Developed and instructed college-level curriculum that combined introductory biology courses, animal science and genetics. Students within the program were undergraduates following the pre-veterinarian track. Chaperoned field trips to animal related places (sheep and dairy farms, fish hatchery, etc.). Participated in outreach activities through the SAMY organization (Science, Animals, Medicine and You).

Worked with fellow staff members in the College of Veterinary medicine to provide opportunities to enhance the academic careers of underrepresented students in the Pre-veterinarian program of Michigan State University via tutoring, special guest presentations and tours of facilities, volunteering experiences, and more.

Guided undergraduate students through experiments in plant biology; prepared chemical solutions, plants and laboratory equipment for experiments; graded and recorded student assignments and assessments.

Assessed student responses to pre-assessments and post-assessments in order to evaluate student understanding of genetics upon the integration of technology into the curriculum.

I am currently studying and working to graduate in the Spring of 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree for Biological Sciences as well as an Integrative Science Endorsement for Secondary Education. I am currently a student in the College of Natural Science as well as the College of Education.

Aided the South Neighborhood Complex Director in creating and maintaining bulletin boards, collaborating with various MSU organizations to hold hall wide events for the residents and maintaining order and cleanliness of the staff office.

Developed and performed an individual experiment for the production and publication of a high school laboratory manual. Aided graduate students in data analysis of a research based experiment and performed daily laboratory prep operations.

Fostered peer development between approximately forty residents on a floor through meetings and events; worked with a small staff to create educational hall-wide programs; worked with a large staff to ensure the safety and security of the hall (~950 residents).

Aided in maintaining the security of the building in which Sports Camps held through Michigan State were held. Responsibilities included walking rounds of the interior of the buildings, checking in with fellow staff members, and responding to incidents while on-call. (Position was held from June to August of each year; 2010 and 2011)

I aided in helping graduate student Teaching Assistants learn the English language as well as giving a more in depth look at the American culture so as to help them connect better with the students in their classroom.
