I believe there is no true freedom without economic freedom. South Africa’s largest untapped resource lies in the millions of marginalised and unemployed individuals who are eager but unable to contribute meaningfully to the country’s economy. Opportunities to earn income by using one’s time, talents and skills offer the most effective and dignified path out of poverty. This does not always mean formal employment – it could be as simple as growing one’s own food or starting a small entrepreneurial venture. At South African Conversations, we are committed to empowering South Africans through inclusive dialogues, practical and liberating information and sustainable income-generating opportunities. Our key initiatives are designed to uplift individuals while fostering lasting change. Below is a snapshot of what we do:COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONSThese free events are held in historically disadvantaged communities across South Africa. They promote dialogue among diverse audiences, amplify marginalised voices and – through advertising revenue – generate income for up to five individuals per conversation.Learn more: https://southafricanconversations.co.za/community-conversations/MAGAZINEA forum for diverse opinions, thought-provoking dialogue, eye-opening information and practical solutions for a better South Africa. The magazine is sold by unemployed entrepreneurs who can earn up to R3,750 per month. The combined income of just 300 sellers totals R13.5 million per year – generated entirely from compassionate buyers’ small change!
